About Me

Letters for Bad Days

my story
Hi, I'm Kat and I am the founder of letters from poppy. lovely to meet you and thank you for being here.

Over Christmas 2024, when I was looking back at what I had achieved that past year, I realised that I hadn't achieved anything for *me*. I had taken a year off my own business and personal projects to focus on helping my partners 3D printing business to grow, because I knew that was going to be a big earner for us - and it has been.

However, I felt a little down that I hadn't given myself time to focus on my own creativity; I was barely writing anymore and I missed it.

So, I made it my goal to change that for 2025. I wanted to spend time focusing on writing, for both work and fun.

the idea

Inspired by a letter my old boss gave me

Whenever I had a "bad" day, I would think about opening it but wouldn't, because my brain would me "ah, but you've had worse days!".

Although I had never opened the letter, knowing it was there, helped me deal with hard times.

My aim is to recreate that feeling, by helping people deal with the big moments in life that can feel overwhelming and scary.

I only opened that letter after finding it when I left my job; three years after being given it.

Letters from "Poppy"

Who is Poppy?

Poppy is the heart and soul behind "Letters from poppy". whilst she isn't a real person, poppy represents comfort, compassion and understanding.

poppy is the friend we all need when things in our lives are changing. she is the voice of encouragement who is here to remind you, that you are not alone.

Each letter has been written from the pOV of "poppy", so whether you're navigating a challenge, celebrating a life milestone or just need a little reminder, poppy will have your back.

No, Poppy is not a real person.

She is, however, a huge part of who I am. Born on Poppy Day, my Dad had wanted to call me Dilys (good grief!!), whilst the Nurses had liked Poppy, for obvious reasons. My parents clearly went for neither, however Poppies remain my Mums favourite flower, and it’s a name that weirdly brings me comfort, so it kind made sense to me to use it for this project.
