What is a letter from poppy?

What is a “Letter from Poppy”, and why might it be just what you need? This is such a great question.

As human beings, the modern world can be an exhausting place, and sometimes we just need someone to say the right thing. Something that is both genuine and real; someone who helps us feel “normal” and even just “seen”. For many of us, we don’t have a person that has the capacity to do that for us, and that is where Poppy comes in.

So…who is Poppy?

Poppy is your fictional best friend, the kind we all wish we had. She’s the one who is ridiculously wise, kind, honest, incredibly thoughtful and she always has the right words to say when everything feels too heavy, or too loud. Poppy’s letters speak directly to the heart, especially when there is no one else who knows what to say.

Each letter is actually written by me (Kat, hello!), but always in Poppy’s voice. That distance makes it feel safe, warm and non-judgemental. Poppy isn’t here to fix anything or tell you how to feel; in fact, the complete opposite. She’s here to tell you that how you feel is not wrong, and she will sit here beside you whilst you figure it out, with a sense of kindness and understanding that you perhaps haven’t been giving yourself.

What kind of Letters does Poppy write?

Poppy writes for all different parts of life, including:

  • Big life changes
  • When You Want To Send Something From a Little One Who Can’t Speak For Themselves Yet
  • Times when you’re navigating a tough emotion (grief, feeling lost, overwhelm etc)
  • You want someone to know they matter
  • You don’t know what to say, but still want to say something

She also writes letters for those awkward moments that are difficult to talk about, or when you want/need quick support, for example:

  • Smear test reassurance
  • Missing someone
  • An apology
  • Sending a warm hug to someone who needs it

How do people use the letters?

Everyone is different, but these are some of the most popular ways people use Poppy’s letters:

  • For Themselves: As a gentle act of self-care when everything feels too much
  • As a gift: A thoughtful, affordable way to show up for a friend going through something difficult
  • Tucked in a book or journal: As a grounding reminder they can return to when needed
  • To start a conversation: Sometimes a letter says what we can’t find the words for

And sometimes? Sometimes, people choose to keep them close by, for example in a drawer, on a mirror, or on a desk, as a reminder that they are not alone.

What makes a Poppy letter different?

I know that there are plenty of lovely cards, digital downloads and handwritten letters available, but I believe these are something a little different.

First of all, all letters are written by myself (Kat). They come from a place of genuine understanding, kindness and a want to help people like you to feel seen. A letter from Poppy is designed to be slower, softer, and much more personal. It’s the kind of thing someone reads, feels understood, tears up a little, and then keeps for years.

It isn’t about receiving a simple message. It is about a moment, and in that moment a feeling.

Still Not Sure?

Hey, that’s okay! A lot of people feel nervous sending something so honest.

But that is exactly why Letters from Poppy exists – we all deserve to be spoken to gently sometimes (yes, that includes you!).

Have a browse around the website, and the shop, or feel free to drop me a message if you’re unsure. I am more than happy to find the right words to help you or someone you love.

With love,

Kat (and Poppy, of course)
