I thought it was time that I properly introduced myself on here, and gave you a little of my back story.
I haven’t spent much time writing over the past five years, so Letters from Poppy is very much about me needing to get back into it.
So yes, this is me, I am Kat (Kathryn, to my Mum) and I am the “person” behind Poppy.
Nope, Poppy isn’t real (sorry about that!), but you can read more about Who is Poppy?, in a previous blog post.
I have been creating stories since I was old enough to read; in fact, it was quite common for my Mum (and older brother) to fall asleep because I very quickly realised that the stories never quite matched what I expected from the images in my favourite books. Therefore, I would rewrite those stories…out loud…at bedtime.
It probably won’t surprise you that I have a BA (hons) in Creative Writing and Film Studies from the University of Derby.
I first went freelance in November 2009 (a week after the above photo was taken). Several jobs, many projects and a lot of hardworking later, I am now part of FOUR businesses:
